CELEBRATING GREAT AWANIANS
Great feats often call for celebrations. It is either an individual feels highly excited and decides to beckon on friends to join him in the celebration. A community as a whole can as well call up a celebration to mark happy moments.
Awa is a community known for celebrations. Traditional festivals (especially new yam and harvest festivals), child birth, funerals (especially passage rites of great achievers), etc are moments of celebrations in Awa.
Today, the news of the hour in Awa is an epoch celebration loading to explode (as my big brother – Ndubisi Obikeze described it). It is a season aptly captioned by the organisers as Rhythm of Honour. It is indeed a day of honour – not just for a few persons but the entire Awanians. It is a day to do a dance of a lifetime.
Rhythm of honour shall throw Awa agog as we shall roll out the drums and throw rhythmic dancing steps. It shall be a day of Onye agbaghi n’okpa, okwee n’isi. Not even the sick in the town can resist the rhythm.
The days are already numbered. I can’t imagine any Awanian miss this epoch gathering. Friends and in-laws from other communities are already calling for seat reservation. No! There is no seat reservation here. It is a case of “come one, come all”. The arena is too wide to limit attendance.
Mark your diary. Get your wears (native) ready. Your dancing shoes, too! It shall be scintillating, it shall be groovy. What more, it shall be mind blowing.
Invite everyone, even your enemies, because the occasion is capable of healing wounded relationships!
